Senderi International Hit ushered in an early weekend for tea farmers in Nyabihu District as they celebrated there day, an initiative of Rwanda Mountain Tea.
Dressed like a tea farmer, just from picking tea from the field, Senderi hit the stage at around 11am to warm farmers up before speeches from authorities.
He performed some of his hit songs such as Twaribohoye, Intore Ntiganya and Agaciro among others as farmers went wild when he asked them to join him on stage.
He later took centre stage and prayed for the farmers asking God to bless their fields, increase their yields and grant them energy to work harder.
The musician spiced up his performance by staging a dancing competition for both old women and men with winners getting cash prizes of Rwf 5,000 each.
Tea Farmer’s Day is an annual event aimed at celebrating their contribution to growth in the tea sector. Tea is one of the leading foreign exchange earners. The day was celebrated in all factories under Rwanda Mountain Tea; Nyabihu, Rubaya and Kitabi
Outstanding farmers were rewarded; the top three farmers were given a Friesian cow each. Others got goats and other prizes.
