IN A BID to improve his medal quest at the Commonwealth Games due in Glasgow, Scotland this month, rider Janvier Hadi is in the US where he is scheduled to do intensive training and also compete in different competitions.
The 22-year-old is expected to link up with his teammates in Glasgow before July 23 when the Commonwealth Games are set to kick off.
Other riders who will represent Rwanda in Glasgow include; Valens Ndayisenga and Jean Bosco Nsengimana who are now training in Switzerland, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana who is in France, Adrien Niyonshuti who is with South Africa’s MTN Qhubekha and Gasore Hategeka.
The first group to Glasgow travelled on Thursday to acclimatise in the host city. It was comprised of boxers Jean Maurice Bikorimana, (69-70/75 kg) and Olivier Nshingiro (60 kg) alongside Coach Gashugi Kananura.
Others include; athletes Emmanuel Ntakiyimana (800m), Thimote Bagina (800m), swimmer Patrick Rukundo and weight lifter Theogene Hakizimana.
The last batch of the national team will travel on July 23 and they include; Dieudonne Disi (Marathon), Jean Pierre Mvuyekure (Marathon), Epiphanie Nyirabarame (Marathon), Eric Sebahire (10000m), Cyriaque Ndayikengurukiye (10000m), Felicien Muhitira (10000m), Claudette Mukasakindi (10000m), Clementine Mukandanga (10000m) and Pontien Ntawuyirushintege (5000m).
