Expectations were high but eventually dreams were shattered for the many Big Brother Africa hopefuls that showed up for auditions yesterday at Lemigo Hotel.
The auditions attracted over seventy people from different walks of life; all dressed uniquely to make a fashion statement. Local celebrities who gave it a shot included Mc Tino, Comedian Arthur Nkusi, Diana Teta, Frank Joe, Pacson and former Miss Rwanda Contestant Mouna Dukunde.
The first phase of the interviews saw a great number of people technically kicked out.
Contestants were asked to talk about themselves, what one intended do with the USD 300,000 grand prize and to choose and comment elaborately about a random photo from over twenty that were placed before those auditioning.
Steven Rukundo one of the many hopefuls said, "I am not certain of the criteria being used. But there is an undisclosed Big Brother Africa theme for this season, that spells out what character is perfectly befitting of a contestant for which, they said, I am not. However I liked my interview, and hopefully I will return next year to try my luck.”
This is the first time Rwanda will be participating in the reality show. This year’s edition will attract participants from Rwanda, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
