REIGNING CHAMPIONS Gisagara sit ball club were crowned champions in the national men’s league which came to a climax over the weekend.
Gicumbi dethroned Bugesera to lift the women’s league title.
For Gisagara, this was their third title in a row secured after emerging victorious in the league’s round of finals held at Kimigasara youth centre on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
They smashed HVP Gatagara of Huye 34-25 on Saturday before snatching a narrow Intwali 28-27 victory a day after.
Intwali from Gasabo district finished in third position after beating Musanze 33-22 and HVP Gatagara 29-22. Despite the loss, HVP Gatagara managed a second-place finish, thanks to higher credits of points from previous rounds.
In women’s league, Gicumbi women sitball club were crowned new champions after walloping Musanze 31-15 in the final.
