SC Kiyovu has appointed former Amavubi coach Eric Nshimiyimana as their new head coach ahead of the 2014/15 season.

The club president Jean Pierre Kayumba confirmed the development on Monday.

"It is now official; Nshimiyimana is our new head coach. He will manage the club on a one-year renewable contract,” Kayumba said.

"We believe he will help us raise the level of the team. We believe he has potential to manage and improve the club which will solely rely on home grown talent in the upcoming season,” added Kayumba.

On his part, Nshimiyimana said, "I am undertaking a new role at SC Kiyovu and I hope to build a winning team for the future.”

Nshimiyimana was born in Bujumbura in Burundi and played as a midfielder for Prince Louis, SC Kiyovu and APR. He played for the Rwandan national team between 1996 and 2004.

He appeared in four Fifa World Cup qualifying matches and was a squad member at the 2004 African Cup of Nations.

In April 2008, Nshimiyimana became an assistant coach for the Rwandan national team working with Raoul Shungu under manager Branko Tucak.

When Tucak was sacked in November 2009, Nshimiyimana became interim head coach. He has also managed local clubs such as APR, AS Kigali and Isonga FC.

The 42- year-old was re-appointed Amavubi coach in 2013 before being replaced in May this year by Briton Stephen Constantine.
