Editor,
We should not forget that FDLR is the source of insecurity in Rwanda, DR Congo and sometimes Uganda. They have to be disarmed sooner rather than later before they gain power to resume what they didn’t fully accomplish during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
All regional countries—including RD Congo—should work together to neutralise this terrorist and genocidal group.
Those (among FDLR) who voluntarily chose to come back to Rwanda were warmly welcomed, resettled and given back their properties. The doors have been open since 1994 so there should never be any excuse for them to stay in RD Congo where they still kill people and rape women at will.
If there are some among them who are suspected to have had participated in the Genocide, they will be brought before the courts of law. I commend the decision of African states (to give FDLR a six-month ultimatum to disarm). They have to put down their arms or face a forceful disarmament.
