APR VOLLEYBALL CLUB head coach Sammy Mulinge Mutemi is hopeful his side will win the 2014 league title after overcoming Rayon Sports 3-0 at Amahoro Indoor Stadium over the weekend.
In the opening matches of the day played on Saturday, APR and Rayon Sports had easy rides over Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) winning 3-0 and 3-0 respectively.
In the final game of the day, APR dominated the game winning all sets 25-21, 25-18 and 25-23.
The military side now leads the standings with 54 points, three points ahead of arch rivals Rayon Sports. Mulinge told Times Sport yesterday that he is confident his side will clinch the league title.
"We are in good position of winning the league title. Staging a good performance against Rayon sports leaves us in a pole position to clinch the title,”
His counterpart Rayon Sports head coach, Fidele ‘Fidjo’ Nyirimana, said, "Our chances of winning the title are very minimal. We will continue to fight but I don’t believe we have a chance because APR is ahead of us and I don’t think they will slip up,”
