RWANDA’S PROMISING players seed two Dieudonne Habiyambere and seed four Mathieu Uwizeyimana meet in the final of the 2014 BRD Liberation Day tennis tournament due at Amahoro tennis club in Remera this morning.
Defending champions Habiyambere qualified for the final after defeating seed three Olivier Havugimana 6-2 6-2 in straight sets in the semi final round yesterday.
Uwizeyimana had an easy ride over Olivier Nkunda whom he defeated 6-3 7-5.
Speaking to Sunday Sport, Habiyambere said, "I am close to retaining this title but it’s not over yet, I’m glad to be through to the final. I have to be sensitively strong if am to overcome Uwizeyimana who is also a good and talented opponent,”
Uwizeyimana who reached the second round of the Kenya Open last month is eager to give the defending champion a run for his money.
"Everything is possible at this stage. Having reached the final, I am fighting for the title now,” added Uwizeyimana.
In amateurs category, Fidele Bayama Kamanzi and Benoit Bicamumpaka are facing-off in the final after registering 6-1 6-1 win over Valens Habimana and Aimable Mugarura 6-3 7-5 yesterday respectively.
