BEIJING - Rwanda’s long distance ace Dieudonne Disi is not about to retire despite a quiet show in the Beijing Olympic Games.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Disi said that his initial decision to retire was provoked by his frustrations with local sports administrators.

"I was covering all my preparation costs; hardly getting any support from the federation. It was the most frustrating moment of my life,” Disi said.

But after producing a couple of top performances later that year (2007), he reconsidered the decision he had taken after the All Africa Games in Algeria. 

Disi also expressed his disappointment after failing to impress in the Games. He said, "I spent two years preparing for these Games but failed to win a medal which is a bit disappointing,” he conceded.

Although Disi is not certain about competing in the 2012 London Olympic Games, he has made it clear that he will race out his three-year contract with Adidas, his official sponsors.

"I want to finish up my three year contract deal with Adidas before I can think of retiring from the sport,” he added.

Disi who now wants to concentrate on full marathon for the rest of his career has also disclosed that next year’s francophone Games in Lebanon will be his last track and field event.

"I will make my last appearance in the 10000m competition in Lebanon next year,” he said.  The 28-year-old is already gearing up for a couple of marathon races like the Dubai, Paris, Boston and Rotherham races among others.
