LEAGUE CHAMPIONS APR are keen to add their seventh Peace Cup title into their trophy cabinet this afternoon when  they face Police in the final of this year’s Peace Cup competition.

The two rival sides reached the final after registering a goal scoring spree in the last four of the tournament.

The military side defeated SC Kiyovu 6-3 on aggregates over two legs while Police recorded a 8-5 goal aggregate over second division side Sec Academy.

APR will be welcoming back their suspended defensive duo of Emery Bayisenge and Ismail Nshutiyamagara who missed the second leg of the semi final.

Police are boosted by their striker Jerome Sina who has improved his goal hunting skills which saw him score six goals alone against Sec academy in two legs.

APR FC coach Vincent Mashami said, "We are looking forward to the title. Everyone is hungry for a trophy and we are well prepared and motivated to go out there and win this important Cup for our fans and Rwandans at large,”

His counterpart Sam Ssimbwa from Police FC said, "Our mission since we started this competition remains the same, to win the Peace Cup. My team is ready to give everything to ensure that we emerge victors.”

To Mashami, this will be his first double in Rwanda after guiding the club to the league title this year while Sssimbwa will be yearning for a slot in next year’s Africa Confederation Cup.

If APR wins the title, then Rayon Sports who finished second in last season’s league will represent Rwanda at next year’s Caf Orange Confederation Cup.

The two sides have met four times at this stage with APR winning all the encounters.
