As Rwanda marks the 20th liberation anniversary, it should be noted that the country has made unprecedented gains in all sectors over the last two decades, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Vincent Karega, has said.
Karega made the observation in his liberation message to Rwandans in Southern Africa ahead of the official commemoration of the liberation day scheduled for July 4 under the theme; "Together we prosper”.
"New policies have fostered unity, reconciliation and development at an unprecedented speed. Over 90 per cent of Rwandans have chosen to live in their country and those abroad contribute in many ways to the development of the country except for the few radical genocidaires and disgruntled politicians,” the High Commissioner said in his message.
He added that unity, solidarity, forgiveness and togetherness prevail over grudge, revenge and stigma.
Karega urged Rwandans in South Africa to protect and preserve the new spirit and identity of Rwanda.
"I call upon you to unite and confront the challenges we face as Rwandans with boldness. Remember that we grow and shape ourselves better as we cross the fire without burning,” he added.
