TOP SEED Jean Claude Gasigwa will hope to seal a semi final berth when he takes on Olivier Nkunda today in the Rwanda Liberation Day tennis tournament.

This year’s edition is being staged at Amahoro tennis club in partnership with Rwanda Development Bank (BRD). It started on June 28 and will climax on Sunday.

Gasigwa, a Kenya Open semi finalist edged out Damascene Munyaneza 3-6 6-1 6-0 in the second round while Nkunda ousted Anatole Bizimana who suffered a knee injury in the second set having lost the first set 6-2.

Other players seeking semi final slots include 2012 winner Dieudonne Habiyambere who will play against Eric Bimenyimana while Hamiss Gatete takes on Mathieu Uwizeyimana before Olivier Havugimana battles Ernest Habiyambere.

In women’s category, defending champion Gisele Umumararungu face Firadawusi Cyiza while 2012 first runner-up Megame Ingabire is set to tussle it out with Olive Tuyisenge in the semi final stage on Saturday.
