Address tax issues

Editor,

I wish to react to the article, "RRA, PSF pledge to solve tax issues” (The New Times, June 28).

I understand the issues around non-compliance and the need to educate business people about the consequences. However, this seemed to be a one-sided meeting.

What issues were raised by the Private Sector Federation about the business community’s complaints on the same tax issues? What about excessively punitive penalties of about 100 per cent of the principle tax payable? Ambush kind of enforcement instead of a more pro-business education first approach? Delays in refunding overpaid taxes and cumbersome audits?
