Challengers lift 2014 Computer Point T20 Cup

CHALLENGERS’ CRICKET CLUB emerged winners of the 2014 Computer Point T20 championship after defeating Indorwa in the final held over the weekend at Kicukiro cricket ground.

CHALLENGERS’ CRICKET CLUB emerged winners of the 2014 Computer Point T20 championship after defeating Indorwa in the final held over the weekend at Kicukiro cricket ground.

Challengers made 129/2 in 15 overs against Indorwa’s 128 all out to win the tournament with Provera Menon scoring half a century.

Arthur Kyobe made 41 runs but couldn’t do much to help Indorwa clinch the victory. Sudheer Reddy who was the man of the match for Challengers managed three wickets in 32 runs.

Challengers team captain Srinath Vardhineni attributed the victory to the team spirit.

"I told my players that we needed team spirit to post a win against a determined Indorwa side and I am glad that we achieved the mission,” Vardhineni said.

Man of series accolade went to Challengers’s Samal Suba who made four wickets, 201 runs and five dismissals while Ugandan Kyobe won the best batter award of the tournament after making 158 runs in 94 highest scores. 

The Indorwa team captain Mihir Solanki won the best bowler award of the tournament.

White Clouds defeated Kigali Angels to win the women category. They made 189/9 in 20 overs to beat Kigali who only managed to make 83/8 in 20 overs.

Veronique Iriho from White Clouds made 81 runs while Diance Ishimwe from Kigali Angels made 27 runs only. 

Mary Baine from White Clouds scooped three medals. She also scooped the woman of the series award and  finished second in the best batters behind Diane Bimenyimana from Queens Victory before going on to win the most outstanding player of the tournament award. The best bowler award went to Betty Mukunzi from White Clouds club.
