POLICE FOOTBALL CLUB has beefed up their side ahead of next season by signing three players from rivals AS Kigali.

The Law and Order enforcers who are in contention for this year’s Peace Cup have completed transfers of experienced goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure, striker Jimmy Mbaraga and left back Mwemere Ngirinshuti, all on two-year contract deals.

The club Spokesperson, Jean De Dieu Mayira said yesterday that the signings highlight the club’s vision of giving chance to potential Rwandan players and looking forward to building a strong team ahead of next season.

Both Mbaraga and Mwemere were signed from AS Kigali at the start of last season but had to wait for their one-year contract with the Kigali City sponsored club to expire in late May this year.

"It’s important to strengthen our team in preparation for a tough battle for the next season. We have signed talented players and we believe to make more potential signings before the end of next month,”

Meanwhile, Mayira further added that their club is keen to win the Peace Cup after a failed campaign to impress in Turbo King Football National league.

"We finished on fourth in the league, which is not good for us but we are doing all possible to revive our season by winning the Peace Cup title. It will be difficult but we will do all we can to make this dream come true,” added Mayira.

Police face second division outfit Sec Academy in the return leg on June 27. The Cops are favourites to advance to the finals following their 4-2 win secured in the first leg.

Should they book a place in the final, they will meet the winner between APR or SC Kiyovu. APR go into the return leg favourites with a 3-1 cushion over the old giants.

The final is slated for July 4, which marks the country’s Liberation Day and will be held at Amahoro stadium.
