Yes, Nigeria will be in the second round of the World Cup. The Brazilian heat favours blacks. Cue Ghana against Germany when the heat took its toll on the Die Mannschaft, leaving them panting and sluggish yet the Black Stars were as though they had just started the game?

We expect another such script tonight as Nigeria take on the mighty Messi and his star-studded Argentina. The only worry for now is that of all the so-called starts, Sergio Kun Aguero has not scored a World Cup goal. Even Fred of Brazil opened his account against Cameroon. The other absentee is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Aguero could find the back of the net this time, even if from an offside position. What the Nigerians need to do is not to just mark Messi out of the game, but also suffocate the Argentineans at least for 60 minutes. This would give them the African power edge.

However, mathematically speaking, Nigeria can afford to lose but still progress, by the grace of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Bosnia is already out.

It is Iran that can still sneak into the party lounge at the expense of Nigeria with a win over the European first timers.

Now, the Dibia back in Nigeria and even the Boko Haram should join hands and pray for Bosnia to beat Iran. With that Nigeria will afford to lose 12-0 but still progress. Same time kickoff, but Iran will lose 3-0 to Bosnia, with Nigeria going down 3-1 to Argentina.

Later in the night, Group E sides will be punching above their weights to find which sides meet Argentina and Nigeria in the round of 16.

France has six points but is mathematically not yet clear. They play Ecuador, who have 3 points and with a chance to qualify with a win.

Also, Switzerland will be playing already packed up Honduras. Switzerland needs a goal fest to overturn their minus two goal difference. The alternative is a France win. Hard call. Switzerland will beat Honduras 2-1; France will beat Ecuador 1-0.
