DEFENDING CHAMPION Challengers will meet Indorwa in the final of the 2014 Computer Point T20 tournament scheduled on June 29 at Kicukiro cricket oval.
Both Challengers and Indorwa sealed the final spot after eliminating Telugu and Victory cricket clubs in the semi final over the weekend.
Challengers showed their quest to defend their title after beating Telugu by 31 runs.
Sairam Goplan was the star player with his excellent batting skills after hitting 44 runs with 6 fours and 1 six, helping challengers to score 188/8 in 20 overs.
Telugu put on 158/7 in 20 overs to lose the game by 31 runs.
In the other semi final, Indorwa ended a five-year wait to qualify for the final after beating Victory by 68 runs. The last time Indorwa CC qualified for the final of any competition was in the 2009 Sulfo Cup.
After winning the toss, Indorwa captain Mihir Solanki chose to bat first. Vicky Prajapati and Deus Muhumuza put on 50 runs each to help Indorwa reach 185 runs for a loss of 3 wickets.
Eric Niyomugabo was the pick of the bowlers for Victory, picking one wicket and conceding 26 runs in four overs.
Eric Hirwa’s terrific pace proved too much for Victory CC’s batsmen.
Ed Pearson and Andre Kayitera scored 38 and 28 runs respectively but it wasn’t enough.
In the women category, White Clouds completed the preliminaries round without a loss. They beat Queens of Victory by 16 runs and will play Kigali Angels in the final.
