All is set for the inaugural ‘Four-ball-better-ball’ golf tournament scheduled for today at the Par-18 Kigali Golf Club course in Nyarutarama.

The one-day event, which will be played on the Stable Fold format, is the first of its kind in Rwanda, but it also played in neighboring countries like Kenya and Uganda.

The tournament is expected to attract over 80 golfers, majority of them locals—though organizers expect a few entries from Uganda. The tournament is sponsored by Crown Paint to a tune of US$15000 (about Rwf10 millions).

According to the Kigali Golf Club captain Antony Olwit, unlike the usual competitions where players play on individual basis, with the ‘Four-ball-better-ball competition, players play in pairs and the duo with best combined scores is declared the winner.

The top three pairs will qualify to compete in the Grande finale tournament set to be held in Nairobi in September.
