Adrien Niyonshuti is leading this year’s Tour de Rwanda. He takes the leader’s yellow jersey into day three that starts this morning from Amahoro stadium heading to Karongi, Western Province.

After two stages, Kigali-Cyanika-Kigali, the national team (Team Rwanda A) rider is leading 33 challengers from five countries including local rivals having used 7h:19:46.

Team Rwanda B rider Godfrey Gahemba is the surprise second in 7hr:21:45 ahead of Team Rwanda A quartet of Nathan Byukusenge (7h:22:59), Obed Ruvogera (7h:28 :05), defending champion Abraham Ruhumuriza (7h:33:46) and Jean de Dieu Rafiki (7h:33:55) who are third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Uganda’s David Matovu is 7th having used 7h:40:40 and is followed by Uwase Nyandwi (7h:41:23). Kenya’s Antony Mwite (7h:41:28) and Team Rwanda B’s Jean Claude Nsengiyumva (7h:43:39) complete the top ten going into the third stage.

Stage four will start from Karongi to Huye, Southern Province tomorrow.

Team Rwanda A, B and Kenya have the most participants with six riders each, Uganda has five, Tanzania two and Burundi has one.
