Hoops All-Star Game: Nshobozwa, Turatsinze to headline selections

The Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) has announced squads for the 2023 All-Star game where APR’s point guard Jean Jacques Wilson Nshobozwabyosenumukiza and Espoir’s point guard Olivier Turatsinze will be captains.

Slated for September 23 at BK Arena, the basketball-full night will see performances from a star-studded line-up including South Africa’s Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest.

Ferwaba announced 24 players that make up the two teams but Times Sport understands that the final team rosters will be announced not later than September 20.

Star point-guard Nshobozwa, 25, had a remarkable season, playing a big role as APR won the national league and secured a ticket to the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Turatsinze, featuring for Espoir, also played a key role for Espoir as they made it to the semi-finals of playoffs.

The American NBA-style All-Star Game will be preceded by contests in slam dunk and three-point shooting.

In 2022, Team Axel Mpoyo edged Team Steven Hagumintwari 126-116.
