Vision chess club dominate commemoration tournament

Ben Zimulinda and Fred Agaba helped Remera-based Vision Chess Club dominate the inaugural Genocide memorial tournament held on Saturday at University of Rwanda College of Technology.

The one-day competition attracted 31 chess players including 27 men and 4 women.

It was a 7 round - rapid competition (with 25-30 maximum time control per player) and was of type "Open” meaning that the competition was open to everyone.

Three (3) rounds were played in the morning and four (4) rounds in the afternoon, making a total of seven (7) rounds.

The top 3 winners were Alex Ruzigura from Knight Chess Club with 6 points out of 7 followed by Zimulinda with 5.5 out of 7 and Agaba was third with 5 out of 7.

The best performing woman was Marie-Faustine Shimwa from University of Rwanda College of Technology Chess Club with 3 points out of 7.
