AS Kigali 4-0 Kamonyi

AS Kigali clinched the national women football championship title for a record sixth time in a row after walloping rivals Kamonyi FC 4-0 in the finals played on Saturday at Kigali Regional Stadium.

AS Kigali scored their goals through Shadia Uwamahirwe and Anne Marie Ibangarye, who netted a brace each to seal a record winning spree which started in 2008.

"I am extremely delighted and I must thank my players and my technical staff for making this happen,” AS Kigali head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu said shortly after the game.

Nyinawumuntu, who also doubles as the national women team coach described winning the league title six times in a row as a wonderful achievement which they will enjoy for some time.

In a separate interview, Kamonyi FC coach Emmanuel Habiyambere said, "We came into the game with the aim to win the title; unfortunately we were overpowered by a very strong AS Kigali side.”

AS Kigali reached the final after brushing aside Gisozi-based The Winners, while Kamonyi eliminated Inyemera of Gicumbi District in the last four.
