Primus Guma Guma Superstar playback shows ended on Saturday as Nyagatare district hosted the artistes in what turned out to be a poorly attended road show compared to the previous shows. The next stage of the road shows will be a competition of live performances among the artistes.

Senderi International Hit was the first to come on stage at 2pm. Never to disappoint Senderi had a surprise up his sleeves.

Dressed like a herdsman with a hat that had cow horns protruding, the artiste excited the natives of the area renowned for cattle keeping. He managed to excite the crowd as he delivered songs like Zirakamwa, APR FC and Turi mu muvuduko.

Senderi was followed by Active boys who put up an amazing show with their trade mark dance moves and songs. They performed Udukoryo twinshi, Pole and Aisha. Next up were Dream Boys who started with Mumutashye, a collabo they recorded with Jay Polly. They also performed Uzahahe uronke and Urare aharyana.

Hip-Hop artiste Amag the Black was next on stage and started by performing Turi ku ishuri. With the small crowd seemingly worked up, he performed Care and finished his performance with Agakayi. Jules Sentore was next and kicked off his performance with Dutaramane. When he recited the Sentore family poem, he got Nyagatare people clapping before ending his convincing performance with Udatsikira.

Bruce Melody came in at number 6 with much applause from the crowd. Dressed in baggy pants and a vest, despite not feeling fine, he had a good performance that included Uzandabure and Ndumiwe which were the crowd’s favourite. Christopher hit the stage with Iri joro. Known for his incredible dress code sense, this time around, he had a chilling look in a pair of shorts, t-shirt and an unbuttoned shirt. Clearly one of the favourites, he had a great performance that he ended with Ndabyemeye and Habona.

Jay Polly stepped on stage amidst loud screams and started with Ku Musenyi and followed it with Deux Fois Deux. Clad in camouflage trousers and an army green shirt, he was the crowd’s favourite.  After Jay Polly, it was time for Young Grace and Diana Teta who performed last in the 9th and 10th positions respectively.

One would have thought that Young Grace had made a deal with Jay Polly to dress alike. Dressed in camouflage shorts, shirts and black army boots, Lady Boss as she is fondly called kicked off with Mpa umusada, a collabo she did with Jay Polly. She followed it with Like a boy and finished her performance with Bingo.

The highlight of the show was Diana Teta who came on stage with backup dancers but started with Nzapfa ejo. However, she immediately changed and performed Canga Ikarita and Kata which the backup dancers had practiced properly. When she started singing Fata Fata, all the artistes came on stage in a wonderful collaboration performance. Dj Bisoso played collaborations that artistes had done with each other and they all sang together. What the road show lacked in the small crowd was made up on stage. This weekend, PGGSS 4 will be in Kigali where the live performances will kick off.
