Dear editor,
The traffic police have to use other means to reduce accidents.

I had of an accident that claimed 12 lives when an over speeding vehicle overturned.

This happened on Saturday between Musanze- Kigali (Gakenke) and traffic reports indicate that the main cause of the accident was over speeding.

Yes, the problem we have is that vehicles have continued to be driven at terrific speed despite the heavy penalties put in place.

Police men are actually beaten by a mere ‘finger sign’ used by drivers to avoid being caught unawares.

This is understandable, as we cannot have police officers line on all roads of Rwanda.

What do we need then? We need radars to detect reckless and speedy drivers if we are to save our people’s lives.

Otherwise, I see all other efforts to check accidents in Rwanda futile.

Passengers are the sufferers and should claim the right more than any other person.
