For the first time this weekend, Rwanda Chess Federation [Ferwade] is organising a Genocide memorial tournament.

According to the federation president Kevin Ganza, each player will play 7-rounds (games) "rapid” competition (between 25-30 minutes maximum) that is to be held at the College of Science and Technology (former KIST) today.

All players, male and female are going to play in a single section and prizes (trophies) will be awarded to the top three players and to the best performing woman.

Registration is free and will start at 8am and the games will start at 9am the same day.

‘’We are expecting the biggest number of players than any other chess competition ever organised in the country,” said Ganza.
