Editor, This is an interesting article, but in my opinion, more emphasis should be on the effect of computing instead of robots.

Editor,

I WISH to respond to Gitura Mwaura’s article, "Are we prepared for the era of robots? (The New Times, June 10).

This is an interesting article, but in my opinion, more emphasis should be on the effect of computing instead of robots.

Decision Support Systems software would be enough to replace most of the jobs you mention without the need of a robot (including driving cars—though in such a case you could maybe make an argument that the whole car becomes a robot.

Robots are likely to take over menial repetitive tasks which in poor countries may not be such a threat.
