The National Higher Education Council (HEC) has advised students who have not graduated completing their courses at Institut Supérieure Pédagogique et Cathechèse (ISPC) to request the Burundi-Rwanda Bishops’ Council that manages the institute to expeditiously process their degrees and address their other challenges.

The advice comes after the former students of the Institute complained of not receiving their degrees.

In an article published in The New Times on 11 June 2014 titled "Students stranded as catholic varsities grapple with conflict,” it was reported that an estimated 200 ISPC students claim not to have been awarded with their degrees in a vacuum that spans for a period of seven years. The students noted that there hasn’t been any formal communication from the Institute detailing when they are most likely to graduate, presenting them with vast challenges when applying for jobs.
