MPs should be accountable to the electorate

Editor,

This is in reference to the story: Hold your leaders accountable; youth told (The Sunday Times, June 8)

It is a great suggestion to urge the youth to demand for accountability from their representatives. However I still hold a different view that it should be the central government to initiate a bill for the parliament that will demand for an obligated day on the work calendar of all the MPs to get back to their electorate and brief them on the progress and the state of the implementation of different developmental projects to address the needs of the citizens.

I believe that for the MPs to have a designated day to meet and brief especially the youth and the elders on the state of the progress on the development of their communities, it would have an imaginable impact.
