Uwizeyimana vs Havugimana 10am

Rwanda’s rising tennis stars Mathieu Uwizeyimana and Olivier Havugimana face-off in the final of the inaugural Axiome tournament today at Kigali Sports Centre. This will be the Grand finale between seed five Mathieu Uwizeyimana battling number six Olivier Havugimana according to the local rankings.

Fifth-seeded Uwizeyimana reached the final after humbling number two Dieudonne Habiyambere in the quarter-finals on Wednesday before knocking-out seed seven Hamissi Gatete in the semis on Thursday.

"I’m fit for the final. I had a tough quarter and semi-final matches and I don’t expect the final to be any better, but I will give my best for the title,” Uwizeyimana told Saturday Sport.

Seed six Havugimana, who saw-off Eric Uwamahoro and top seed Gasigwa in quarters and semis respectively, said he is ready to build on his big win over pre-tournament favourite Gasigwa.

The winner will pocket Rwf300 000, while the beaten finalist will walk away with Rwf200, 000.
