THE INAUGURAL Axiome tennis tournament (Men) reaches the last four today after the conclusion of the quarter-finals on Wednesday at Kigali Sports Centre.

Rwanda’s top seed Jean Claude Gasigwa needed 2 hours and 26 minutes to beat seed three Olivier Nkunda in straight sets (7-6, 7-5) in a tightly contested match.

But seed two Dieudonne Habiyambere, wasn’t as lucky after he was shocked by fifth-seeded Mathieu Uwizeyimana 6-3, 6-4.

In other quarter-finals, Hamissi Gatete, seeded seventh, beat seed four Mubaraka Harerimana in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 7-5), while seed six, Olivier Havugimana, easily brushed aside unseeded Eric Uwamahoro 6-2, 6-4.
