Digital education will be the centre of activities during this year’s MTN ‘21 Days of Y’ello Care’ that starts today.
Under the theme, "Investing in education for all”, MTN employees are focusing on setting up child development facilities in schools, as well as training teachers and other learners in information communication technology (ICT) and establishing digital content for university libraries, the telecom firm said in a statement yesterday.
MTN Rwanda chief executive officer Ebenezer Asante said digitalisation of learning and teaching plays a big role towards closing the digital divide in communities.
He said the firm will provide the infrastructure for cloud computing and virtualisation training to universities as a way of promoting digitalisation in learning.
‘21 Days of Y’ello Care’ was instituted by MTN Group in 2007 to give its employees an opportunity to contribute towards improving the welfare of communities.
It has now become a prominent feature in MTN’s calendar, and is also one of MTN’s flagship corporate social investment programmes.
