Rwanda Football Federation has confirmed that Rayon Sports and Police will represent the country in next month’s Cecafa Kagame Cup due in Kigali, though the dates have not yet been set.
The development was confirmed by the Ferwafa vice president Vedaste Kayiranga, who also revealed that there is a possibility of Rwanda adding a third team, preferably APR, in case there is a low entry of regional teams.
"(As hosts), we could end up entering three teams, but that will depend on the teams that will confirm their participation,” Kayiranga told Times Sport yesterday.
"Ferwafa is doing everything possible to have successful Cecafa and Rwanda opted to host this year’s event as part of preparations for the 2016 CHAN competition,” he explained.
Ferwafa has a budget of $100,000 (about Frw69m) for organizing the tournament; and they are still waiting for Cecafa to inform them about their contribution.
President Paul Kagame has already honoured his pledge of $60,000 prize money. The 2013 competition was won by Vital’O of Burundi after defeating APR in the final in Darfur, Sudan.
