Amavubi Stars skipper Haruna Niyonzima has hailed his team-mates for the ‘outstanding performance’ that booked Rwanda a place in the final preliminary qualifying round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Etincelles, Rayon Sports and APR playmaker said the win against a highly ranked Libya was a big achievement not only for the team but Rwandan football in general.

"I am happy and I am sure every Rwandan is happy that we have reached the next round. We were hungry to win the game. It has been long since we won comfortably and if we continue working together, I’m sure we will achieve more,” the Young Africans midfielder told Times Sport.

However, Niyonzima admitted that the next tie against Congo Brazzaville is going to be tougher.

Rwanda will face Congo Brazzaville in the final round. Amavubi eliminated Libya 3-0 while Congo knocked out Namibia 3-1 on aggregate.

The first leg will be played in Congo on the weekend of July 18–20 where Stephen Constantine’s team must avoid conceding away goals before hosting the second leg two weeks later in Kigali.
