Three men suspected of stealing a motorcycle in Kirehe District were arrested in Mahama Sector yesterday. The suspects aged between 24 and 26 were apprehended in Kamombo cell. They are currently detained at Kirehe Police station as investigations continue.
Three men suspected of stealing a motorcycle in Kirehe District were arrested in Mahama Sector yesterday. The suspects aged between 24 and 26 were apprehended in Kamombo cell. They are currently detained at Kirehe Police station as investigations continue.
The trio allegedly ambushed the owner identified as Francois Umuraza, who was transporting a passenger and assaulted him before fleeing with the motorcycle.
Police in Kirehe said the suspects stopped Umuraza in Kamombo while transporting a passenger and ordered him off his motorcycle. When he refused, Police said, they tried to strangle him and left him unconscious.
Area residents, who witnessed the act, informed their colleagues in the direction where the suspects were headed, who intercepted them and recovered the motorcycle. They handed the suspects to Police.
The motorcycle was also handed over to the owner. Senior Supt. Benoit Nsengiyumva, Police spokesperson for the Eastern region commended residents for the act and urged them to continue with the spirit.
