Reknown Ugandan drama group, the Ebonies and local artistes Radio and Weasel delivered exciting performances over the weekend at Kigali Serena Hotel and Gikondo Expo Grounds on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The highlight of the events was Imbaraga Z’urukundo, a play that the Ebonies had specifically customized for the Rwandan audience and the breath taking performance by musicians Radio and Weasel.

The show lived up to its billing and attracted big crowds at both events. The show was a blend of action, suspense, laughter, tears and beautifully choreographed dances.

Imbaraga Z’urukundo is a reflection of day to day relationship challenges that lovers go through. The suspense and action packed play had the audience hooked up to the end. 

The musical performances were delivered in different languages including English, Luganda and Kinyarwanda. The songs included Sun of Africa, a tribute to Rwanda, Manvuuli, Omuhabati, and Party tonight among others

At Serena Hotel, the Ebonies kicked off their show at 6:47pm with Tijara Kabendera and Ryan Kaliisa as the MCs of the night.  The Gikondo show on Sunday also kicked off at 6pm.

At Gikondo, the performance of Sun of Africa was breath-taking. Sun of Africa is a choreographed performance that tells the history of Rwanda through the years. This was followed by Pearl of Africa a song about Uganda and its vast beauty and culture.

The already worked up crowd, jumped from their seats as Ugandan musicians Radio and Weasel put on an electrifying performance. They sang many of their hits which are popular across the region.

The Ebonies got a standing ovation at the end of their shows at Serena and Expo Grounds. Their performances left people yearning for more.

The Ebonies Managing Director, Sam Bagenda aka Dr Bossa, said the group sings in different languages to clearly put across the message to different categories of people. 

 "We sing in different languages to make sure that we can communicate our message well to all communities where we stage our performances. This has helped us to attract a huge fan base.   

Dr Bossa said that he was impressed by the huge turn up and how people had enjoyed the show.  The group is on a world tour that will take them to the United Kingdom, Dubai and South Africa.
