EDITORIAL: Patience is a virtue

This week’s Mag seems to call for a lesson in patience.
Our main story (page 6-7) sees children struggle to get back to school. Not enough buses, disorganised students, dishonest drivers – the problem is compounded at every level.

Meanwhile, as our Focus (page 3) discovers, others have been losing their cool over the process of picking up their new identity cards. Queues are long, the procedure unclear and disorganised.

On page 8 of the main paper you will also meet people’s frustration with over crowded, poorly staffed banks.

With half our team here on holiday, the stress of putting a paper to bed has been even worse than usual. Deadlines have been repeatedly missed, and from journalist, to editor, to production assistants and managers we have all been tearing our hair out.

Days now are hot and dry and tempers seem quick to flare.

The need to unwind is more pressing than ever. That’s why we have tried once again to fill our pages with stories for you to sit back, relax and enjoy.

Laugh with us on page 4, treat yourself to some chocolate mousse (page 12) or get reflective on page 10.

It’s Sunday, it’s the weekend; you deserve a break. And if this week you’re heading to the bank, to the taxi park or to collect your new identity card, take the SundayMag with you, I am sure it will help you put up with certain delay.

Til next week, take it easy.
