Second-placed ES Kigoma host fourth-placed APR in the national handball league today looking to win and leapfrog Gicumbi at the top of the table standing.

ES Kigoma sit in second position with 13 points, five points ahead of APR, who have played two games less. Defending champions Gicumbi, who are not in action this weekend, have 14 points from five matches.

However, Medard Mudaherishema, the coach of ES Kigoma will be without his talisman Shafi Niyonkuru, who suffered an arm injury in the semi-finals of the Labour Day tournament against Gicumbi.

‘Niyonkuru is our top scorer with 42 goals so far. He has been so instrumental and so his absentia from the team is going to affect us, but we have other players to fill the gap,” said Mudaherishema.
