Editor,
THIS IS a reaction to a letter ‘Why poverty, wars persist in some parts of Africa’ published May 30.
I thank Eddy Chico for his reaction to my article. As he so rightly points out, the biggest challenge to Africa is leadership that has a clear vision that supports the aspirations of the citizens.
Unfortunately nearly all countries, as he has indicated, are dependent on Western aid and which we seem are not ready to do without. My fear is that if we are not careful we might end up replacing Western aid with Chinese aid.
African governments should engage the youth as a matter of high priority for they are the ones that might bring changes.
