Inema Arts Centre has partnered with Heaven Restaurant to open a new, professional art gallery displaying contemporary paintings. The permanent gallery will place an emphasis on promoting and selling the work of Rwandan artists, but international artists are also invited to apply to have their work showcased.
"As people come to see the gorillas we hope people can come to see art," said Emmauel Nkurunga, co-founder of Inema Arts Centre. "Rwandan art is really rich."
Inema and Heaven have worked together since 2007 to promote art in Rwanda through community events and showcases. Entrance to the gallery is free.
The gallery opening is May 29 from 5 to 10 p.m.
