AJEPRODOH, a youth human rights organization has launched three projects that will promote human rights in the Eastern Province. 

According to the organisation’s Executive Secretary, John Mudakiwa, the projects launched Thursday at Seed of Peace Conference Hall in Kayonza district will operate in the districts of Nyagatare, Gatsibo and Kayonza.

The projects namely: Monitoring the Economic Development Poverty Reduction Strategy 2008-2012 Justice Sector Indicators; Mobilizing and Strengthening Associations, Networks and Communities towards ending domestic violence and Survey to assess citizen participation in local development planning and management will have different time spans.

They will cost Rwf 71,475,900 and are funded by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), but run by AJEPRODOH.
Mudahikwa said that the projects will help residents know and fight for their rights and build good relationships in families.

The Vice President of AJEPRODOH, Andrew Bayingana, called for commitment from all players in the implementation of the projects.

He requested the central government to work with AJEPRODOH in monitoring and facilitating its workers and advising on priority areas.

Bayingana added that residents have to support the implementation of the projects by giving their views on what they need most since they are the beneficiaries.
"Working together will ease work for all the players,” he noted.

J. Baptiste Butare who represented the Governor of the Eastern Province, officially launched the projects He welcomed the initiatives saying they would promote unity.

Gatsibo district Good Governance Director, Nicolas Rwaka said that the projects will make a difference in the district since they tackle some of the problems faced by residents.

He also noted that the residents, especially the youth, need entertainment like football games in order to keep them occupied and steer them away from bad activities.
