EASTERN PROVINCE

RWAMAGANA— A 10,850 km long feeder road network worth about Frw75 million has been constructed in Rwamagana.

This was disclosed by the district vice Mayor in charge of economic Development, Jean Batiste Ndanyuzwe.

Ndanyuzwe said that the old feeder roads which are 22,115km long have also been upgraded at a cost of Frw65 million.

Speaking at a one-day sensitization meeting for genocide convicts serving their sentences through communal work, commonly referred to as TIG, Ndanyuzwe, said the roads will facilitate economic development in the district.

The meeting that took place on August 13, at Rwamagana district headquarters was also attended by local leaders.
Ndanyuzwe appealed to TIG convicts to willingly serve their sentence as part of reintegration process into the community.

He appealed to TIG committee members in Sectors to duly exploit the work and to closely follow up the activities they do.

Benoitte Ayinkaniye, from the National Secretariat of TIG, said that people serving such sentences were lucky because they base from their homes unlike other convicts else where who remain confined in prisons.

She warned them not to abuse that freedom.
In addition to construction of roads, the group has also participated in construction of terraces and several other developmental activities.
