RWANDA Governance Board (RGB) in partnership with the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has set June 1 to 15 for commemoration sports events to remember the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
RWANDA Governance Board (RGB) in partnership with the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has set June 1 to 15 for commemoration sports events to remember the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The event is mainly held to pay tribute to the athletes who were killed during the 1994 Genocide
The competitions are aimed at preventing genocide and will be held under the theme ‘Promoting principles and practices of good governance among students and sports communities as a way of preventing genocide and deterring its ideology.’
Seventeen sports federations will take part in the competition.
They include volleyball, boxing, golf, football, taekwondo, karate, kung fu, handball, table tennis and cycling federation.
The competitions will be held in Kigali and will bring together teams from all the provinces and some neighboring countries. In addition, policy debates will be conducted around the country.
There will also be a Walk to remember for sports federations, students from primary, secondary and universities.
