The recently appointed Rwandan Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr Francois Xavier Ngarambe, assumed office yesterday after presenting his credentials to Michael Møller, the acting director-general of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Dr Ngarambe, who will also represent Rwanda as ambassador to Switzerland, is also Rwanda’s representative to several international organisations that have headquarters in Geneva. He assumes the new responsibilities following a cabinet meeting in February that transferred him to Geneva from China, where he was ambassador, replacing Solina Nyirahabimana.
In China, he was replaced by former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Charles Kayonga. While in China, Ngarambe was also accredited as Ambassador to Viet Nam, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Cambodia and People’s Republic of Korea.
