Uganda’s leading drama group is set to perform a new play in two concerts on May 31at Gikondo Expo grounds and on June 1 at Kigali Serena Hotel in Kigali. According to Ebonies member, Carine Bazubagire, the Ebonies are performing in Rwanda first before embarking on a tour that will take them through some African countries and Europe.
"We decided to come to Rwanda first because we want to spread the love especially during this period when the country is commemorating the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It is an opportunity to give people hope and put smiles on their faces. We have even prepared a special song for Rwanda that we will perform during the show,” she said.
This will be the Ebonies’ second performance in Rwanda after the first show that took place last year. Although the first show wasn’t a success, they are optimistic that this time around they will be able to attract a huge crowd.
"After our performance last year, most people appreciated what they saw. Secondly, we have prepared quite well in terms of advertising unlike last year. Since we got good reviews from the few people who turned up last year, we are hoping to attract more people this time around.”
"People should expect a wonderful performance. We are always improving and learning new things. The show will be superb and I encourage everyone to attend. The Ebonies are not coming alone, Goodlyf Crew, Radio and Weasel, will be around to take care of music lovers. Entrance fee to the concert is Rwf 15,000 at Serena Hotel whereas the second concert at Expo grounds Gikondo will go for Rwf 5,000,” Bazubagire said.
