AMAVUBI DEFENDER Mbuyu Twite has signed a one-year deal worth $25,000 (Rwf 17m) to stay with former Tanzania Vodacome Premier league champions Young Africans.

Initially, Mbuyu, whose contract was set to expire on May 20, had demanded Rwf 40m to sign another two-year contract with the club but after several discussions, the two parties reached a one-year deal with a hope of even extending it further should the Rwandan international impress next season.

Mbuyu told the Tanzania media on Wednesday, "I am happy to stay put with the Jangwani club and I will do everything possible to help my team perform better next season,”

Mbuyu joined Young Africans from APR two seasons ago after the Rwandan giants decided to give room for home-grown talents.

At APR, Mbuyu alongside his twin brother Kabange Twite won four league titles, five Peace Cups and two Kagame Cup titles in their five-year stint at the club.

The DR Congo-born star, who has been one of APR’s best signing in the club’s history, joined Young Africans in a deal worth $50,000 (about Rwf30m).
