Hill View Hotel and Apartments, which opened its doors to the public on Wednesday has 42 rooms, including 13 apartments. Its commissioning will provide the space-stressed hospitality sector some breather as demand for hotel facilities continues to grow. The situation will be eased further when the Kigali Convention Centre and Marriott Hotel, with a 250-room capacity each open later this year and 2015, respectively.
Emmanuel Sebagabo, the facility’s general manager, assured the public of good customer care, efficiency and quality services. "We are committed to offering quality and first class affordable services to customers,” Sebagabo said.
The facility employs 50 people already.
Rwanda has 250 hotels, with 6,000 rooms, 3,000 of which are in Kigali. Of these, only Kigali Serena Hotel is five-star, with Umubano and Mille Collines Kempinski hotels as four-star facilities and about 10 hotels graded as three-star.
Rwanda will next week host over 3,500 delegates from 73 countries during the forthcoming 49th African Development Bank Annual Meetings. The country received 1,137,000 visitors last year.
