* waits for its fourth screening

The second episode of ‘Ikigeragezo cy’ubuzima’ is gradually succeeding in Rwanda following a publicity boost through advertising on Rwanda Television and various FM stations.

The film produced by the Schilo Film Production (SFP), a local film company has been put out for public consumption in three screenings.

It was first screened at Jali Club Kigali late June, then the Serena Hotel and the last one was at Huye Stadium (Southern Province) where thousands of spectators turned up, filling the stadium for the film.

Before striking the regional market, the film is set to be screened for the second time in Southern Province this weekend at the National University of Rwanda (UNR) main auditorium.

Patrick Kamanzi, the director and producer of the film, told The New Times that the film has been a bigger success than what they expected due to intensive publicity and spectators inquisitive to see what happened to Ngenzi, one of the actors who ended up being arrested in the first episode.

The film which is scheduled to be screened twice at St. Paul this Sunday, is co-produced by a female producer Sonia Umutesi wa Shema.

This second episode came out following another gender-based violence related film called Urugamba Nk’izindi produced by Caritus Uwizeye.

Other short films have been produced in Rwanda under the auspices of Rwanda Cinema Center of Eric Kabera.
