THIRTY local women football coaches are undergoing a week-long training course aimed at reinforcing their capacity in modern football coaching techniques.

The training which was launched on Monday by Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) in conjunction with the World football governing body, Fifa is aimed at improving the standard of women football in the country.

The Swiss training coordinator Von Siebenthal Beatrice hailed Ferwafa for its efforts in promoting female football in the country.

"This is a rare occurrence in Africa. You should be grateful for your federation which is committed to promoting women football by concentrating actively on what you are going to learn here,” Beatrice told the participants.

The Ferwafa vice president Vedaste Kayiranga acknowledged the constant football support offered by Fifa in strengthening the capacity of local coaches and developing the level of football in Rwanda.

"This training is focused on cementing the existing cooperation between Ferwafa and Fifa. You make up the pillars of the female football development in Rwanda and if you are to pursue this training, you must be very committed and try to follow closely what is being taught such that you can take the skills out there and improve women’s football,” added Kayiranga.
