THE TWO-TIME national handball league champions, Police Handball Club continued the chase for this year’s title with a well-deserved 56-09 win over the University of Rwanda-Huye Campus, in one-sided game played at Kimisagara youth sports centre yesterday.
The win took the Police side to maximum twelve points on top of the standings but with a game in hand having played only four matches on the fifth day of the national league.
During the Saturday mid-morning game, Police Constable (PC) Gilbert Mutuyimana scored a game high-ten goals for the law enforcers followed by PC Norbert Duteteriwacu and Haruna Bizimana with seven and six goals respectively.
"Players were well prepared and they proved it on the pitch. With today’s very impressive score and win, we are optimistic we will retain the top slot even if our competitors win their games,”
The game in-hand is against Groupe Scolaire Rambura Boys. ES Kigoma and APR are second and third respectively.
"Our focus is to win each and every game and to score as many points as possible because they also add a lot when clubs have equal points,” the head coach, Assistant Inspector of Police Antoine Ntawangayimana added.
