Roma go into the penultimate weekend of Serie A with the aim of stopping Juventus from reaching an historic 100-point plateau.

Juve, crowned champions for the third straight season last weekend after Roma’s 4-1 defeat at Catania, need four points from their last two games to reach the century mark.

The Giallorossi, who will finish runners-up, also want to avenge their 3-0 defeat at Juve earlier this season.

«This is a super game,» Roma captain Francesco Totti said to Corriere dello Sport. «Roma v Juventus is always a match that goes above every expectation.

«Following our horrible performance at Catania, we want to end the season in a beautiful way.

«We have an opportunity to make amends on Sunday and we will try to hand a great performance and prove that Serie A is not only about Juve.»

Roma will be bolstered by the return of the team’s top scorer Mattia Destro, who missed the last four league games through suspension.

Napoli take on Sampdoria in Genoa having ensured a third-place finish with a 3-0 triumph over Cagliari on Tuesday.

That result followed their Coppa Italia final success over Fiorentina.

A win at bottom side Livorno on Sunday would seal fourth spot for Fiorentina and a place in the Europa League group stages.

The Viola are four points clear of nearest rivals Inter Milan, who host fellow European hopefuls Lazio on Saturday on the back of a 1-0 defeat at city rivals AC Milan.

The stakes are extremely high when sixth-placed Torino host Parma, who are seventh.

A draw in Turin would benefit AC Milan, who is level on 54 points with Parma.

Milan makes the short journey to Bergamo to face Atalanta with all eyes placed on striker Mario Balotelli.

Sunday’s home game against Udinese will be a celebration for Hellas Verona.

The Verona outfit gained promotion to the top flight last summer and have enjoyed a terrific campaign, collecting 53 points in 36 matches.

Sassuolo look to take a giant step towards defending their Serie A status when they host Genoa on Sunday.

The promoted outfit edged Fiorentina 4-3 on Tuesday to move two places and two points clear of the drop zone.

Catania coach Maurizio Pellegrino expects his players to produce the same performance that saw them stun Roma last weekend when they visit Bologna in a relegation dogfight on Sunday.

The Sicilian outfit is 19th, five points behind safety.
